Sunshine Coasting

Next on our summer agenda was a visit to my brother's house in Gibsons. It's always peaceful at their house and they live near the beach. What more could you want in a getaway?

We went for a walk to the beach and stopped for some blackberry snacks along the way.

Then we headed down the steep steps to their beach.

Which you almost always have pretty  much entirely to yourselves. On this particular day, there was one other family there. One. On the whole beach. Crazy.

It's a pebbly beach and the water is pretty deep fairly quickly so we mostly just climb rocks like we're pirates or something and paddle up to our ankles.

That view!

I could sit on the rocks and watch boats come back and forth all day.

Also, I had the brain wave to collect rocks for when we went camping. We wanted to do some rock painting while we were away and well...the rocks were plentiful here. Don't worry, we'll probably return them at some point.

Newly shorn, David was enjoying the coolness of less hair, but missing the protection offered to the back of his neck. So we showed him what any good varsity boy does to fix that problem.

I think Rubey and I were the only ones to go in the water that day.

Then we had the beach to ourselves. Somehow we never leave the big rocks though.

Then we all had a snooze.

Oh, I lied. Dave snoozed and Ada danced.

And then we persuaded the littles to join us.

Pretty much a perfect afternoon.
