Last night I taught davey how to drink straight from the tap in the tub. I also showed him that you can spit it out like a fountain (he thought that was pretty cool, but he couldn't figure it out...looks like he's trying though).

just loves drinking the bath water. Mnnnnn...oh that and pool water. Today in the pool he had to take his soosy out and dippy dippy it every ten seconds.

First Day of Summer Means LOTS of Pictures

Today being the first day of summer AND a gloriously sunny day, we decided to go to the beach. Unfortunately, Ashlie is still in school but Jade was able to join us for a GREAT day of playing.



I gave the kids a snack before we left, figuring that way we wouldn't need to eat lunch till about 1. Not five minutes after we arrived they were breaking into the cooler themselves. Guess they were hungry...

Hmnnn...

Of course, a trip to the beach isn't complete unless you build a sandcastle.
Today we decided to build it in true westcoast style and incorporate rock, wood AND sand. And a killer moat. That's my favorite part...pouring the water in the moat!

Wow. We're all so tired we fell asleep in the car. Who's driving?

Back awake, and mum and dad decide that Davey needs a good soak in the pool to get all the sand off him!

Stressed out by rush hour traffic?

Hitching a ride. Seconds later they both fell off the car. Though quite how Davey managed to get himself pinned underneath the still-upright car I'm not sure...I'm happy to report there were no serious injuries (just some injured pride!)...

Not content to have just one project on the go at once, or even to finish one project before I begin others on the list, I decided today to tackle the yard. Davey must be feeling a sense of urgency about completing this task since he decided to grab a tool and help...and even pressured the other kids into helping too!

More About Today:

Katt called me this morning to see if I wanted to "dump the kids in the play area at McDonalds".

"Are we leaving them there permanently or do we have to pick them up again later?" I asked.

Davey went straight for a nap after breakfast so Katt and I took Ashlie to school, then headed to Superstore to scope out the summer toys. Alas, I didn't find anything super cool so it was back home. By this time Jade was asleep but I snuck downstairs to find both my boys sitting in the Adirondack chairs snacking on fruit.

AHA! Cookies and watermelon. Well, he could do worse I suppose.

Now that Katt and Cody's lawn is finally going to get put down, they're going to take a bunch of their outside toys to their house (how dare they! Don't they know if you don't take it when you move, it's ours?!) So, in anticipation of this, we bought Davey a new lawn chair. Not quite the recliner Ashlie's white one was, but he seems to like it....

Wouldn't you say?!

Hmnnn, I go upstairs for a few minutes and they're eating AGAIN!

Ah yes. Dirty Dave. That's what happens when you have a pool AND a sandbox! Looks like he's trying to pin the blame for his state on Daddio.

After all the snacking my guys did today, I didn't think Davey would eat much for dinner. But no sooner had I brought the plate of corn out than Davey had pounced on it and helped himself.

Here he is polishing off his piece and trying to get mine.

And not only did he have corn, he had carrots, baked potato, a veggie dog, and bbq'd pinapple. And ate almost everything on his plate!! All this surf, sand and sun must make for a hungry kid!!
