We've been away

Every year we try to get out to Osoyoos for a week at Howat's Hut. The last time we made it (due to scheduling difficulties - ahem youngest child who was born in the summer and so we had to stay home for a WHOLE summer - and the hut being full already) was when Davey wasn't even a year old. I have pictures from this year's trip. Lots of 'em. But they're on Andy's computer so I can't put 'em here yet.

So, in the meantime, here's a pic from May 31st which I edited using picnik to make it look as though it's from the 70s. Cool, hunh? But since I'm sposed to be getting ready to head out for the day, I'd better quit playing!

It's raining here, which means one of two things.

Either we're out puddle jumping (which we couldn't do because the rain coats are in the car with Andrew) OR we're....

I don't have any pictures to share, so I thought I'd ramble for a change.

First of all, those of you who find building sites exciting, can take a wander over here and see how our house is coming along. I'm going to try to post updates there as opposed to here because this site is more for cute pictures of kids than cute pictures of foundations. For those of you who haven't heard the story yet, my parents are building a house and going to let us live in it. We are very, very blessed.

Secondly, Davey has become quite obsessed with Spiderman. Two weeks ago when I looked after our neighbor kids, Dryden brought over his Spiderman movie. Surprisingly both of my kids loved it. (Yes, the version with Kirsten Dunst and that guy. Yes, I let them watch it. They were guests and it had been so long since I'd seen it I decided we'd play and see.) Since then, Davey insists on being called "Spiderman", has acquired a spiderman pyjama set which he would prefer to wear 24/7, and runs around the house looking for people to save. Which is quite nice because if I ask Spiderman to carry that laundry upstairs, he complies. Happily.

His sister is also in on the whole thing and will call (all day long) for "Help! Spiderman, help me." Which I guess was getting to be a bit much. As we were driving to work this morning at 630, Elisabeth was holding a toy castle on her lap and calling for spidey to help her. And Davey flashed her the most withering, world weary look and said, "you're not in trouble" (or in other words, it's too early for this game, please be quiet.)

Harrison Lake

We knew yesterday that we wanted to spend today at Harrison Lake. So for once we did some planning an brought an umbrella (because we werent' sure if it would storm or sun) and chairs (because I remembered our patio set has folding chairs and, hello? WAY more comfy!!) and a cooler thing full of drink (because I got sun stroke yesterday and I don't like it). Here's our set up. Though I did move us closer to the beach right after I took this. I wanted to be close to everyone else.


Ellie took off right away. Notice the FOUR shovels? She used them all too.

Then she came and sat with me. Wrapped herself in the blanket and started digging.


Davey kept destroying Daddy's castles. So here's Andrew trying to catch him to "throw him in the lake." Though we don't really do that because Davey is still kind of scared of water. And we don't want to make him scared of it forever. He's been gradually getting braver so hopefully in Osoyoos later this summer he'll come swimming with me.

Today he perfected the art of making sand castles. Really perfected. His are better than mine.

I think he was admiring a dog this time. The people next to us had a beautiful but mean looking dog. No idea what he was, but he was solid muscle.

Favorite Mummy?

This morning I asked Tink if I'm her favorite mummy. And she said no.

So then I asked her if Auntie Kathi is her favorite mummy. Still no.

"Well, then, WHO is your favorite mummy??"

"Ashlie. Ashlie is my favorite mummy. "



Payback time for trying to teach my little brother to call me "mummy number one" and mum, "mummy number two".

Crescent Beach...It's been a LONG time!!

Today Andrew and Davey wanted to go to the beach. After yesterday I really didn't want to be out in the hot again, but they begged so much I finally said we could go to the ocean...hoping it would be a bit cooler than out here in the valley. It wasn't too bad, but I think I still got sun stroke. I must find a hat...

That's Davey and his new friend Morgan. They had a great time catching crabs and snails and putting them in buckets of water.

Spider Dave, Spider Dave

Davey is a little obsessed with Spider Man and Super Heros right now. Keep reading, you'll see some proof...

We had a showing at our house today so once I had it ready to show I had to take the kids somewhere so we wouldn't dirty the house up. The closest place that had shade is the preschool up the road. So there we went. It was very, very hot.

Elle's two favorites are the Teeter Totter and the Tire Swing. She could swing all day. I'm so going to have to get her a swing at our new place.
