Yesterday we picked up Ashlie and Jade then met the Abelmans at the pumpkin patch/corn maze/apple orchard to pick some pumpkins for our yearly pumpkin carving contest/bonfire.

First we played with hula hoops (tink is a stunt hooper).

Jade and Davey were so cute. There were a lot of kids in the hay maze - especially big kids who were making it a bit scary being in there. So Jadey and Davey were trying to be very careful. They were soooooooo cute holding hands and helping each other from bale to bale.

Where the mean animals were last year, they had ride ons this year. So much fun!

Then it was back to the homestead to start the pumpkin carving.

And do a little playing.

The finished product. I think they turned out pretty good!!

Kids say the funniest things, right? And I never can remember those things when I finally sit down at the computer, so half of the funny things my kids say? Gone forever.

So, before I forget forever.....

Yesterday at the bonfire, Dave was crazy about cooking things. Every time we turned around he had something new he was roasting over the fire. Finally I said to him, "Davey, you can't just keep cooking things just because you think it's fun! Who is this hot dog for??"

Davey: "Well OBVIOUSLY it's for you." Yah, cause if it's for me I won't whoop ya?


And then this morning Tink has suddenly taken to replying to every question we ask her with, "Yes sir!"

hunh.

On Sunday morning we took grosspapa to see the house our neighbors want to buy. I told him it was because their house was sooooo cool. In reality it was a ruse to get pictures of the house's neighbors deck. Am I sneaky or what? Here's Ellie with a snail.

This is what we'd eventually like in front/to the side of our house. Perfect spot for enjoying a cup of tea and doing some writing while watching the kids play on the driveway.


In the afternoon we met our neighbors at the Chilliwack Corn Maze.

I remember a few years ago being disappointed because almost all the pumpkins were rotting on the field (this was in Langley). This year both of the boys decided they wanted small pumpkins. And thanks to the long dry fall we've had so far, there wasn't a small pumpkin to be had anywhere. They were all lovely and big. Sorry boys.

My sister has some postings on her blog about all the demo going on in mum's kitchen. They found asbestos so the kitchen has been sealed and the poor demo workers had to install showers for washing every time they came outside. It was COLD that day too. Apparently inside it was pretty noisy. The crew gave everyone some ear plugs to help with the noise.

Kathi also has some cute pictures of Tink from when she day cares her for me. I stole this one because for a change Tink is looking like me (as opposed to my mum and sister.)

Thanksgiving/Davey's family birthday party

We celebrated Thanksgiving on Saturday. Tradition has always been to celebrate David's birthday on the same day. This year, Grandma bought Davey a bike.

Elisabeth really wanted to ride a bike too, but she was too short. So she rode her motorbike.


If you look closely, yo ucan see her chocolate face. Nutella and soy milk, YUM!

And Davey's birthday cake. He really wanted a buzz lightyear birthday. I couldn't find anything to make his friends' birthday a Toy Story party, but I was able to give him a Toy Story cake.
