I thought I'd take a break from blogging the distant past to show you something more recent. Weather here was lovely this weekend, so on Sunday evening we decided to head to Blackie Spit for a walk. Of course, a walk around the spit is not complete without a run through the long grass on the hill near the dog park. And we decided to document it on 'film'.If there was ever a time I thought Lizzie and I looked like relatives, this was it. She is the cute version of her mother.
We continued around the spit, admiring the flowers and nature as we walked. And we came out to the waters edge and David took a deep breath and gasped, "I wish we lived here. Then we could do this walk every day." Coming from the boy who was very mad we were even taking a walk (he wanted to go straight to the beach) this was deep praise.
"left or right?!"
What on earth kind of tree grows with this weirdo bark?!
Next I had to do another grassy shoot - this time with my boy!
Hmn. I've heard of poolside seats, but this seems a bit ridiculous.
We finally headed to the beach. Well, I assume the beach was there somewhere....under all that water...
We finally found a patch of sand. And buried Lizzie in it.
We came prepared this weekend. Swimsuits and everything. Lizzie washed off the sand.
A very wet David gave his dad a very wet hug.
Sunny Sunday evenings at the beach make us giddy.

Lizzie's Preschool Easter Party
It's hard to believe this is my last year with a preschooler. But it's true. Lizzie is down to her last few weeks in preschool and come September I will be dropping her off for all day kindergarten! I'm not sure my poor mama's heart can stand it :(
But she's already leaps and bounds ahead of where David was at this stage. She recognizes every letter of the alphabet and her numbers. She can sight read a few words and she can count to a hundred. This girl is so excited for school she wants to skip Kindergarten and head straight to Grade One.
Slow down little one, I'm not ready for you to grow up so fast!!Her preschool Easter Party was super cute. The kids made little hats with hears and bunny noses/teeth. Only lizzie was hungry so she ate her bunny teeth right off. Only added to the cuteness though, right?
And here's a picture of Braylon, just for fun :)

On April 17 we went to the zoo
We decided to buy season's passes to the zoo this year. And, because we found ourselves with a pleasant day and no plans, we headed out to Aldergrove to wander 'round the premises. David armed himself with eye protection and a map:
And proceeded to direct us around the park.We got lost a few times along the way, but luckily we were in good hands. All the littles had maps.

and here we go!
Well, this is me trying to play catch up.
Way back on April 16 we had a bonfire. At the Abelmans. I remember that it was cold. And that we brought wood, but we didn't have a ton of firewood so Darren got out his chainsaw and pruned the cherry trees. But more about that later.
First let's look at this cute picture of Mayah threatening to shoot me with her water gun!
The kids love playing in Brad's boat. Lizzie brought her crown with her on this day and was playing at being Queen of the World. And Andrew and I took a picture to prove we still like each other. After 10.5 years together, that's quite the feat!
Natasha and I have been together longer, and we still like each other too. We met in the fall of '88. That's a long friendship for a gypsy, let me tell you!
There was some hockey played.
Scenes like this make me want to pave our whole driveway so we can play hockey all the time!
Not everyone wanted to play hockey. Lizzie decided to bounce instead.
I told you it was cold this day.
And the kids ended up playing in the trunk. A rocking good time. Specially when we cranked the tunes and shut the trunk :)

You may have noticed this blog has been dormant for a while. Truth be told, my heart hasn't been in blogging for a while. However, posting all my pictures to Facebook is not very fulfilling. So I'm thinking about taking it up again. BUT because of my personality type, I will have to catch up on everything I missed before I start with anything new. Holy overwhelming batman!
Still...projectdavid may be reappearing in your readers sometime soon...

Yesterday as she was leaving the playground, my sister tried to steal David. Apparently, he would not be stolen. I left Elisabeth racing around the swing sets and brought David closer to us. As we walked, he said, "I don't want to go with Aunty, but I would trade Tink for Jade!"
We've all felt like that at times. Please can I trade my annoying sibling for my best friend?
We stayed at the playground for a while longer, then walked home. That afternoon David and Elisabeth went to Aunty's to play with Jade for a few hours. Then we had dinner and played in their rooms and finally went to bed.
It was Bible Study night last night and David had been in bed for a few hours. We were in the middle of praying when I heard David yelling. I went upstairs and David sobbed, "Mama, I don't want to trade Elisabeth for Jade! I'd miss her. I love her. But maybe we could have Jade and Tinky??"

No wonder David's size 7 jeans barely fit him - he's grown more than two inches in seven months! I measured him and Elisabeth this morning since everyone keeps telling me that David looks really tall all of a sudden. I'm five ten and David easily rests under my elbow when we're standing in the playground...as in, I can put my elbow on his head and it's the perfect height for me to lean on him ;) Elisabeth has also grown a ton since August. Probably a little less than two inches, but this explains why nothing is fitting them all of a sudden. Good thing shorts/tshirt season is on it's way!!

Anticipating Grosspapa's Arrival...
My dad is due to begin his spring migration home again next week. And you can tell the kids are excited for it. The other day Tinky made cookies, "Let's package some up for your dad. Cause I love him a little bit you know."
David and Tinky are playing playmobil, David is telling Elisabeth how to set up their house: "Don't forget to set up the bed. Cause old people need more naps than everyone else you know. Remember, when Grosspapa is here, how he sleeps all the time? uh hunh."

The Gospel According to Lizzie
Yesterday Elisabeth pulled out David's Kid's Club memory verses and was pretending they were her verses. Since she can't read yet, she had to improvise. Here are three of the of Lizzie's Memory Verses:
I will be glad and rejoice in your goodness and love and I will never be afraid because you are always watching me and my family.
My God says that I have to love my family and I have to pray to the Lord. And he will do my prayer because God loves me.
God says, I am always watching over you but you can't see me because I am invisible.
I like the Gospel according to Lizzers.

More from Davey and Tinker
This Sunday, Andrew did the Bible reading at church. He was reading from Psalms and I didn't think the kids were paying too much attention until suddenly David grabbed me and said, "Mom did Daddy just say, 'My servant David'?" I nodded so he continued with, "DOES THAT MEAN I'M HIS SERVANT?"
**************************************
Elisabeth just learned about dental health in preschool. The conversation at breakfast this morning went something like this, "You know those chocolate cookies grandma gave us? Those give us cafeterias."
"Do you mean cavities?"
"No cafeterias. You know, the bugs on our teeth? So we shouldn't eat them anymore."
"Yeah and then we'll have to go visit the guy that gives you golden teeth!"

Another photoshoot with little lizzie
As we were leaving the beach last Wednesday, I spotted a grassy hill. I asked Elisabeth to run up and down the hill a few times while I snapped some pictures...and I love how they turned out!
Here are four of my favorites:

One of the best things about stopping at the Point Robert's Sip and Ship is their ice cream. They always have kid friendly flavours like birthday cake. And Moose Tracks and Rainbow Sherbet. Oh yum.
In fact, the ice cream options were so good, even mummy broke down and tried some!
Then, when we'd finished buying our crazy cheap gas, picking up our parcels and eating our ice cream, we headed to the beach. Because we finally figured out how to get there...
And it was sublime!
The kids were so excited to see all the drift wood. I knew Andrew would have liked it too. It's really too bad he has to work to support our extravagant life style!
There were oodles of little driftwood houses dotted along the beach too.
Of course the kids were in heaven! Little houses to play in!
We adults were quite happy with them too - it was windy there on the point!
Some of the houses were really basic, but a few, like this one, were really sophisticated.
This one even had a bed and pillow in it!
And skylights!
My handsome baby brother. In a few weeks he's getting married and likely our adventures will come to an end. The end of an era. It is sad making.
Thank goodness I have these two to continue my adventuring with.
Dave in his beautiful crocheted hat.
And Lizzie in Uncle Dave's straw hat.
We came to the end of the public beach. Way off in the distance you can see Tsawassen's beach.
And the campground by the water. I would SO love camping here!
The kids found a little cafe house. Complete with crab's legs for sale.
We stopped at the Orca Learning Centre on the way out. Apparently this is a PRIME spot to watch the whale migration.See how close to the beach those babies get? SO cool. For $75 a year, you can join a list and they will phone you every time there are whale pods in the area. Split that between a few interested families and I think it would be SO worth it!!
Love the wooden boardwalks!
And then we had a quick pitstop at Starbucks to freshen up. Lizzie bought this 'round.
