Back, by Popular Demand

Maybe I shouldn't say popular demand has me blogging again, but when Andrew and Elisabeth were in Ontario this summer Terri asked Elisabeth to ask me if I was ever going to blog again :)

So here we are again, let's see if I can keep up with the blog now that I'm 'retired'. I'm sure that the posts won't be linear; I'm going to try to fill in the years when I wasn't blogging as well as keep up with current events (there aren't that many these days!)

So. here we go....

Peter Pumpkinhead

Last year Elisabeth and I decided to try the internet trend of pumpkin head pictures. It was so much fun that we decided to do it again this year, but this time with a friend.

These two crazies were so excited to carve their pumpkins, they forgot that their heads had to go in the BOTTOM of the pumpkin and cut the holes in the top. You can see where they cut the tops. At about 9:30 pm, liz came to me all in a panic wondering if super glue would get the tops back on.

They ended up using hot glue guns, paint and even skewers to fix their heads. It worked, but they had to hold their pumpkins up at all times, or else their own head would push the top back off the pumpkin!

Once again, Fort Langley made a fantastic place for the shoot, and we went before sunrise so that we'd capture the mist rising off the river.

As you can see, we had a lot of fun.

Grade Twelve Transformation

Elisabeth has gotten into the habit of undergoing a transformation each fall. This year was no different. Hmn. We should probably have a before picture...

...ah yes, this will do:

Anyway, Liz has a masterplan which involves all the way to June. For back to school it involved mostly dark hair with blue tips. Once we'd got the hair perfect, of course we needed to capture it all on film. We went to Fort Langley, my favourite location, to see what we could do.

She's just so gosh darned cute!

We only had 40 minutes to wander around and get pictures, but we made sure we went to Gasoline Alley to pretend we were in Europe and snapped these coffee shop pictures.

The Barbie Movie

Elisabeth and Ashlie jumped on the Barbie bandwagon this summer.

Can you blame them? We love a good excuse to dress in pink!

They had preshopped and picked up barbies to take to the show with them.

Adventure Time: Here we go!

For our last few days of spring break, we rented a house in Parksville.

This car was fully loaded and we headed for the ferry.

Horseshoe Bay is my favourite of the two Vancouver area terminals. It's so pretty.

Our house was ready early so went and dropped our stuff there, then headed to Coombs.

In all the years I've been going to Coombs, we've only ever done the weird side, then looked at the goats (and the line ups) and left.

This year we actually walked back along the road behind the market and there's a whole village in there! WHO KNEW?!?

The girls took a lot of selfies which they graciously shared with me.

I still wish I had maskless pictures but at least we have these memories?

More spring breaking

I had a neighbor once who obviously thought my love of flowers was deranged. She commented on it a LOT. I still hear her voice occasionally when I plant or buy myself flowers. But I really do love them, they make me happy. So this time of year is my favourite! Everything is coming alive...and Liz and I went in search of blossoms.

We found some. And oh look how pretty they are with her pink hair!

We also found magnoilias.

Hah! I love this little faux grumpy face.

We had a wind storm earlier this winter and it knocked off the railing on the stairs down to the beach, the wood around the base of the pier (blocking people from sleeping under the pier I think) and one of the posts supporting the pier! I wondered if the City of Whiterock had noticed and actually even tried to get in contact with them but gave up because it was too hard. Months later they finally had tape around the area in question.

We went searching for blooms again but the best we found was this nursery.
