Yesterday Davey and I were enjoying a peaceful morning when I heard what sounded like a really loud pop from our basement. I ran downstairs to find this. Only when I got down there the water and foam was still pouring out from under the toilet lid, even though the foam had made it's way alllll the way to the hallway.
So I went banging on doors till I found a strata person who was home and made them come see that we're not just talking about a minor problem every time we complain. FINALLY we got some action. Today reno people are coming to see if we need our floor and vanity ripped out. Tomorrow the plumber comes to see if he can fix the problem. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am that this is getting dealt with.
(incidently, that nasty purple colour on the walls is the result of an industrial accident that occured in the bathroom [never leave toilet bowl cleaner in the toilet and bleach in the tub and then go out for the day!!!] I was half way through repainting the loo when this occured....we'll wait to finish and see if we have to gut our bathroom first).

Not Yet Three
Could you sleep at a time like this?
Hearing Oldsmobiles traveling from town to town
I hear the older kids run past the trees in the mist
I hear them laugh in the breeze as the sun goes down
You think I should be fading now
That's because I'm not yet three
But my strength still ain't abating now
I'm stronger than you
You're simply bigger than me
Well, yonder the sun has turned the town bright yellow
I love twilight more than you do, Hello
You don't love twilight as much as me
Why don't you take the nap and let the baby be
You think I should be tired now
But my body's all inspired now
And yes it's true that I'm not yet three
But I'm stronger than you
You're simply bigger than me
Look, I sat up in my crib and you didn't like that
So now I have to lie down flat on my back
I can't get out of this thing
I can't get out of here
But if you think I'm sleeping, oh no, that's all mistaken
That's right
You think I should be dozing now
But my cheeks are still a rosing now
And yes it's true that I'm not yet three
It doesn't matter, I'm stronger than you
You're simply bigger than me
I just plain don't like you and I'm telling this to ya
You know about history and geometry
But you don't know enough to just let the baby be
And you think I should be tired now
That's because I'm not yet three
My body's all inspired now
In fact, I'm stronger than you
You're simply bigger than me
O.K.
Yes

Party in the Wagon
So today Davey and I got a little bored driving around. Luckily we had our trusty digital camera and our smiles with us. We actually took 73 pictures of ourselves (yah, he shares the blame!!) I took pity on ya'all and only posted a few. Can't wait till we spend four straight days in the car next week!!!

And we're off!!

I honestly didn't think this day would ever come.
Davey always hated being on his stomach. Like pretty much from the moment he was born. So I didn't even bother trying to force him to have much tummy time. I just assumed that somehow he'd go straight to walking.
Did he ever prove me wrong!
While we were in Ontario, Davey spent a morning playing with his cousins Emma and Melanie. Neither is really close to his age. Emma is four and a half and running all over the place. Melanie is five months old, but she's not doing much moving yet. But somehow, playing with them, he didn't mind being on his tummy. In fact, it was while we were in Ontario that Davey perfected backwards crawling.
But it wasn't until this week that he really started motoring. Now, you put him down in one place and there's no telling where he'll be next. And because he's been standing and pulling himself up for ages, if you put him down in one place he might be standing in another...or climbing up something somewhere else....or trying to dive headfirst off yet another thing.
Today I HAD to get out of the house, but we only had an hour or so and it was raining. So we decided to go to Chapters and look at books. Now as you know, I only have one arm in operation these days, so that makes it kinda hard to carry Davey AND look at more than the covers of books. Well these days, I just throw the kid on the floor (preferably facing the direction I'm hoping to peruse) pick up some books and sort of follow him. It's great. I'm gonna get a basket attached to his back and he can be my little shopping mule.
Good times.

Today was a busy day. It was just davey and me this morning (first time alone since I broke my arm...not the most fun either of us has ever had). Then it was off for a walk at the beach this afternoon, home for a quick snack and over to gramma's for Uncle Dave's birthday party! WHEW! we're ALL tired :)

Going for a walk doesn't mean carrying or pushing this little tyke anymore. He wants to walk himself (he still needs to hold on to at least one of mum or dad's hands) and then as soon as something interesting comes along (sand, seaweed, shells, stones....) he plops right down on his butt for closer examination. WHAT A FUN AGE!!!

Davey is in full crawling mode now. We can no longer leave him to play alone on the floor. Faster than you can blink he's crawled over to the nearest piece of furniture, has pulled himself up and is doing some dangerous stunt. Here he's crawling as fast as he can towards the water.

I have never seen the tide so far out as it was today. When we got home mum asked me if we thought about tsunamis at all...she would have taken one look at the extra beach and run for the hills. And no, we did exactly what everyone in Asia did....tried to walk as far out on the ocean floor as possible. This is the view to the ocean.
