Fiery Fun at the Fraser

Dad was in town this weekend to go to the Vancouver International Car Show with the boys (my brothers) and he's staying for two weeks...ostensibly to visit, but really he's painting Rob's new house and fixing the fence that blew down during one of the many windstorms this winter.

Today though he had a slacker day and came to the river with us. Here he is learning the proper method of throwing rocks from Davey.

And since neither Daddy nor poppa could get the fire started, Davey also had to teach them the proper method of building a camp fire. Good thing I brought Davey or we never would have gotten any s'mores.

While all this was going on, Tinky quickly and quietly ate all the graham crackers we'd planned on using for the s'mores. Well, she made a good start anyway.

She let Davey have one too.

But then I caught her and I put her in a box.

She thought being in a box was mighty funny. Heh. Just wait till you're trying to get more cookies, kid...

Somebody moved her from the floor to the tabletop. I guess they figured it would be easier to make sure she didn't eat all of our provisions if she was up where we could see her.

At first Poppa thought s'mores sounded gross. Then he tried one and he was well and truly hooked. Luckily I taught him how to do them on the BBQ too, so he won't be burning up all of Green Lake's trees once he goes home.

Mnn mnn good.

Afterwards we thought we'd better go for a hike. Get some of the smoke out of our lungs and the chocolate off our hips.

By the time we got to the mall to have tea in Zellers' restaurant both my kids were zonked. But I'd say that between the beach and the river we had pretty doggone near the perfect weekend.
