Gotta make use of those annual passes. So we went up the mountain. Look at those views of the ocean. And my children pretending they walked up.
We were meeting friends on the mountain, so we hung out in the shade for a while.
Elisabeth was practicing her samurai moves.
There's still snow on the mountain! The kids were kind of excited about that.
We wandered around for a while, poking the snow and enjoying the fresh mountain air. This was before the forest fires started, so we didn't realize quite how precious the air was yet.
So yah. There was a lot of standing around watching the kids :)
We finally dragged them away from the snow for a couple of seconds and watched the bears.
Okay, we walked away from the kids to see the bears. They continued playing with the snow.
We'd brought a picnic lunch so we ate that while we looked at the bears. However, because we had such a long, cold winter, everything on the mountain was quite a bit behind schedule. Which meant there were a lot of little flies EVERYWHERE. Flying up your nose, in your mouth, all over the place.
So we moved to the sun.
Then we did the traditional measuring ourselves.
Traditional pictures in the carvings.
The first of many? Well, the first of several.
