Camping the one

So let's see. We went camping. The first day, I had the day off but Andrew and Kandace both had to work. Elisabeth was volunteering at VBS. But Denis convinced me that we should head out to Bridal Falls early and set up so that everything would be done by the time Andrew and Kandace got there. Then we could all help with the tent (or maybe even have it all done) and get dinner.

I had planned my day down to the minute like I like to do, but his plan seemed solid so I talked to Andrew and then off me and David went.

It was hot. REALLY HOT. It took us a bit to get out there. Then, when we got to our site it wasn't very big, it was a pull through, and it was no where near level where the trailer had to go. So we were a gong show. To the extent that a nice man across from us thought we didn't have a clue what were doing and came over to help. We refused and kept going. Oh yah. No shade on our site either.

I thought I was going to die.

By the time Kandace rolled in, Denis was a ball of stress. I was a purple mess hiding in the 10 inches of shade beside a cedar hedge and the boys were miserable. It was awesome.

When Andrew showed up we still didn't have the tent set up. Kandace and I went to get dinner and sometime later I finally got to a normalish temperature.

The next morning/middle of the night, I woke up with a massive reaction. I call them allergic reactions, but I don't think anyone knows what they are. But it turned into a panic attack to the extent where I was almost blacking out. Elisabeth managed to calm me down and persuade me to go with Kandace to Langley (to pick up Griff) because if it was the air quality that was bothering me, at least I'd be sucking in filtered air in the car.

In Langley I hid in my room, literally breathing over my air filter until I calmed down. I didn't want to come back to the site, but in the end we decided it would probably be okay. I brought my air filter with me.

After that, I pretty much hid in the pool or beside the pool trying not to have another panic attack. Is this the new me? I really hope not.

Anyway, on August 2nd it was Nate's birthday and we'd decided we were going to the water slides to celebrate and also to Cultus Lake Adventure Park because it's also Lizzie's birthday on the 6th. On the 1st Elisabeth had gone to a birthday party at the PNE so she got a tattoo while she was there.

The other girls got hearts and roses and stuff like that. I asked her why she didn't get Ride or Die since her latest obsession is leather and motor bikes. She just laughed.

 Birthday bumps?

And a shot of the birthday boy.

I was panicking about chlorine and smoke, so mostly I hid in my chair. I didn't even read cause that's another thing I have trouble with these days (like, eyeroll), but I enjoyed being with this crew.

NO idea what the guys are doing.

Then the guys went off to slide.

Eventually I got off my rather large bottom and followed them around with the camera.

This ride shears your toe skin off. Beware.

This one is awesome. The more people you can cram in the boat (?) the faster and further you go.

I love how theatrical Nate is.

Lizzie's favourite slide and I missed catching her. Oops.

David has never liked slides, but this year he does. What? So they went down these ones about a trillion times.

So many pictures, but I swear I was ruthless getting rid of the bad ones?

 Then some familial luging.

And finally we went across the road to the adventure park.

This is basically the hellavator. They all decided to try it.

 Pre drop of doom.

 And up they went.

Can you see how ill David looks?

Oh this series makes me laugh.

So we persuaded them to go on the frogs to recover from the drop one.

After that it was kind of a free for all with them running willy nilly all over.

And me following for the best pictures.

Poor Liz. She really needed the Goldstones to have a daughter. Poor Nate and Griff having to share David.

While these kids were on the coaster, daredevil Nate was on the upside down ride.

Here he is, like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.

And then we went across the road for pizza. Pretty good day, I'd say.
