Evening at Chilliwack Sunflower Festival.

I have the very best children in the world. Since this record is for them, and do them the honour of recording this evening like it happened. It's a little oofy.

I love spending time with these two. We've done flower festivals before and enjoyed the time we spend together. I get a lot of pictures, and they're very patient with me and my need for photos, but more than that we have so much fun together. I relive the memories through the pictures.

With the pandemic, many of our usual events have been cancelled. But the sunflower festival promised social distancing with timed tickets and the fields planned and routed so people wouldn't bunch up.

So I'd been watching the weather and my work schedule and today I left work early so we could head to Chilliwack for the sunset pictures.

We stopped at McDonalds for dinner along the way because no one should be hangry. And then we started.

Liz had come with several outfit changes. It was HOT. Things started well.

Aren't they cute? Liz had ideas for posing and was totally into helping me stage pictures.

My dancy boy.

As we moved on through the fields there started to be a lot of people around. And no shade. The kids were still amazing sports.

"Walk down this row. Now turn around and walk back. Okay. Do it again. And again."

We were trying to find somewhere where the sunflowers were tall and abundant. I had this idea of a picture I wanted to do and I got fixated on it instead of on the fun. Don't they look hot? yeah.

Still, I love these pictures.

We found the car and took some pictures here. Oh, and I was using a new camera, so trying to learn how to use the camera at the same time. Oy vey. Also, Lizzie wouldn't let David be the driver here LOL

I love this one.

Then I wanted pictures of them jumping. It was so freaking hot. They're so good to me.

We found some shade and they sat down.

We found the swings.

And then I got the pictures I had been striving for.

I made them prance up and down the rows some more.

And even though they were having fun, I was just focused on the pictures.

Anyway, we should have gone and gotten drinks at this point and sat in the shade. Then everything would have been great. We could have stayed in the shade till the sun was lower, than done a couple more pictures. Probably would have laughed our heads off at something or other.

But then I saw the stand was empty and so I wanted pictures there.

I couldn't get the light right so David wasn't in the shade. So I had a meltdown. And we went home. OOOF.

I thought it was the kids fault and I was a jerk. But when I looked at the pictures I realized just how good they'd been - I mean, a photo shoot isn't their idea of a good time. But they did it for me. And I ruined things. So I realized two things. One. My poor parents. I think I was/have been a terrible child. Moody af when I don't get my way. And still doing it to this day. Thank goodness I was able to apologize to them, and they are so forgiving. We had a great adventure the next day, but that's another blog post....
