We went to Nanaimo

I don't know when this happened. But me and the kids went to visit my dad. He's in Nanaimo these days (for now) so we hopped on a ferry.

You can see it was an amazing day.

I just love this passage. One of these days, I'm going to do this trip in a smaller boat. Hop from island to island.

Ugh, I hate my face, but look at how cute my boy is. Gotta cherish the memories. Once we arrived, dad took us to his current place. I say that because even though this was our first visit to this home, he moved not long after to another place in Nanaimo. To be fair, this place was  a hole.

We went to Rathtrevor beach and saw a suite car for sale.

And then some of us relaxed by the beach while some of us went for a walk.

Looks like these are some of the last pictures from off my camera before my laptop died and I lost a whole year's worth of pictures.

From there, we went to Parksville to eat subway on the beach.

I always thought this was Nanaimo. Hah. I'm dumb.

There was a sandcastle competition on. I forced dad to let us go look at it.

It was really unbearably hot, but the sand sculptures were amazing.

From there we went to Nanaimo. It's kind of a 1960s town I think - with a run down look, but the waterfront (where we were) was cool. We stopped for dinner first.

I had capers for the first time. Always thought they were a sea food. Duh.

Then we walked along the beach.

This is me trying to get an idea of scale on these dahlias. They were the largest I've ever seen - well, until we went to the sunflower festival and saw bigger ones.

And then it was time for a spectacular sailing home.
