Here David is expounding on the theory of relativity. Like his mother, David gets hyper in the evenings. Usually around the time dad wants to go to bed :)

This is one of the newborn outfits we bought Davey. you can't really tell from the picture, but his little feet end about where the legs start in this sleeper. And I thought he'd only fit in this for a week!! He was not impressed that mummy made him try these clothes on!!

This is David looking grumpy. Feeding is serious business for this little tyke. Having a mass photo session in the middle of his meal was not appreciated. Picture taken Oct. 20th.

Birthday pictures
Andie and I are very blessed to have this new fellow in our world. Here are a few of my favourite birthday pictures. Once you're done looking scroll down the blog and check out the survey.

Mom's first snuggle
Mom finally gets to hold her newborn on his birthday about 45 minutes after his birth. He was rushed away just as soon as I cut his cord because the cord had been wrapped around his neck and his head was a deep blue purple colour when he came out. He quickly recovered at the foot of the bed in a special incubator unit where he got a blast of fresh oxygen. Doesn't Andie look pretty good for just having given birth?

Baby picture survey
We thought we’d post some pictures of us so that you can try to figure out who you think David looks like... 'cause we have no idea. Andrea thinks he has her mouth and definitely her feet. But apparently I had skis for feet too, so maybe we’re just too much alike? In any case, check out the pictures below and give us your thoughts.

It's a boy!
He's here, David Andrew arrived at 1:17 am on Saturday, October 16th. He weighed 7 lbs. 15.5 oz. and was 21.5 in. long. He has blue eyes and blonde hair, only there isn't much hair, and ski's for feet with really long toes. Mom and baby are both doing well. We're all a bit sleepy.

It's the final countdown!
Okay, it's been a couple of days since we posted on here. So here's the update:
At Tuesday's checkup my blood pressure was still slightly elevated. So my doctor sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound to check the amniotic fluid. I'm starting to feel like I spend my entire life at the hospital. Our parking fees alone should fund a new wing!!
Anyway, it was awesome getting to see the ultrasound this late in the game, especially since the baby always hid at previous ones. I also got to hear the blood going through the umbilical cord. If you've ever been to the aquarium and heard the belugas, that's exactly what it sounded like. SO COOL.
Anyway, the downshot is, my amniotic fluid looks a little low, so I'm being induced tomorrow. Doctor says like it or not, I'm getting a baby tomorrow. YAAY. Watch this space and we'll have pictures as soon as we can.

Baby Name Game
We've had some questions about whether we've totally decided on what to call this kid of ours when s/he finally arrives. Well, from the title of this blog, you can guess that we're sort of decided.
In fact, when I first told Andrew that we were pregnant, almost the first words out of his mouth were, "I think we should call him David Andrew." Thinks Andrea, "it's a boy?!?" and then, "but that wasn't even one of the finalists on our list of names!!"
However, I've quickly learned during this process that while my husband is normally a mild mannered, sweet tempered, honey pot...when it comes to this baby he is...well, pushy, determined and stubborn.
For instance, before we'd found out that the ultrasounds indicated we were having a boy, we made a trip to Carters to buy clothes for a friend of mine who'd recently had a girl. Andrew would NOT stay in the girl section, so finally I joked, "hey Andrew, focus here. We're getting a present for a girl." My dear, darling hubby whipped around and snapped, "WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!" and loud too! I was stunned.
We recently made a trip back to this clothing store, because I've had my eye on some really cute puppy dog sleepers for a while. But do you think I got any say in what clothes our son will be wearing? HAH. Once again that stubborn streak came out and everything we bought had race cars or fire trucks. You KNOW I'm secretly hoping this kid is a girl. Two can play the stubborn game...
Anyway, just for fun, here's some names we were throwing around before we "knew" this was going to be a David Andrew. Feel free to give us feedback...maybe I'll get some say in the second kid's name...
Boy names:
David Andrew (obviously...)
Benjamin James (my personal favorite)
Daniel Robert
Girl names:
Fiona
Emilie Elisabeth
Abigail
okay, actually we don't really have any ideas beyond liking the names Fiona and Abigail. Unfortunately, since my feet decided to swell like balloons the last few weeks...and every time I look at them I'm reminded of the movie Shrek, I've kind of gone off the name Fiona...

First pictures of Davey
Here's one of our ultrasound pictures of Davey. We never really got to see much of him, but you can see his head here sort of near the bottom middle and his spine curving up towards the left.

Pictures of Davey's room
When we learned about breastfeeding in prenatal classes we had to bring a subject to practice on. Mrs. Rednose kindly obliged us, and even submitted to the indignity of having a diaper and diaper shirt put on her. Still, she doesn't look like she minds it too much, does she?

This is Davey's crib and the rocker where we'll probably spend many hours bonding. Currently Winnie the Pooh is keeping the chair warm for us...

This is me...No pregnant belly pictures...I'll save photos of the kid for when he's on the OUTSIDE thank you very much!!!
As Andrew mentioned, there's still no sign of baby. I'm starting to get worried that this kid is going to be like his mother. I was three weeks late, and when I finally DID show up, I was a terror. My mum says she still loves me, but I think mums have to say that sort of thing don't they? I never slept, I shoved my socks in her mouth when she sang to me, I used to lock her out of the house...and I ran away from home before my second birthday (and some people say the teen years are the hard ones...) Needless to say, I'm hoping my kid takes after his dad.

The wait goes on
Here I am typing a new post for this blog. Still no sign of baby, although Andie was two centimeters dialated at our last doctor's appointment so the process has begun. Maybe soon?

"D" day arrives, but "D" doesn't
Well "D" as in "due date" is here today... but "D" as in "David" hasn't made an appearance or even a sign of appearing. Most everyone has been stopping me here at work to see what's happening. I wish I had more to report.
A co-worker of mine and a couple from our Church both had new additions to their families this past Tuesday. When's it going to be our turn? It's getting hard to wait.
