Any one know the answer to this?

I've been looking at cribs and strollers etc. and Target just seems to be the place to shop all things baby. Their prices are often half of prices in Canada.

My question: Does anyone know how to figure out how much duty you have to pay if you buy something in the States and bring it across?

recently i bought about $200 worth of haba stuff (really cool wooden euro kids toys), and had to pay about $50 worth of duty! can you believe it?! crazy. that said, i think it depends what the items are. also, if you spend (I think it's) over 24 hours in the states, then you pay very little - no duty. I don't know how you figure it out, but it sure would be nice to know in advance. our dollar is *so* amazing right now eh?
let me know if you a find a was to calculate the duty -- that's a skill i would like to have too!

It's such a pain...I spent ages on the Canada Customs site yesterday but I couldn't see anything other than what you are and aren't allowed to bring over.

And you're right, with the Canadian dollar where it is right now, it's sooooo tempting to buy in the States!
