A (Al)most Perfect Day...or ten ways to tell mum wasn't with us when these pictures were taken....

Today we wanted to go to church. Unfortunately, Tink didn't cooperate and so we couldn't make it on time. Eventually I decided that me and Tink weren't going anywhere today so Daddy and Davey should find a way to enjoy the sunshine.

Just like his mamma, Davey loves to read in the car. And just like his mamma, he does not like being interuppted. Can you tell??

This is our favorite log for walking on. Looks like David has mastered climbing on to it and walking on his own. A skill acquired this summer. (Which reminds me. These clothes he's wearing? Slightly big right...but not huge. Size three. Yah. He's gonna be in highschool before I have a chance to realise it. Tink is five weeks old today and it's five weeks till Davey's 2nd birthday. *sigh* )

A-Ha! Andrew is trying to learn a new skill too. Taking pictures of yourself...much easier in this day of digital cameras with those turn around view finder thingies. Davey doesn't look as happy as usual. Could it be that the beach just isn't as fun when mamma isn't there? That's what I choose to believe.

A perfect day for being at the beach....

Hmnnn, Grandma, maybe you'd better not look at this next picture. Looks like Davey was being a boy...and mamma's not there to hold his hand!!

Another picture proving that Davey wishes his mamma was here to play on the beach. Or maybe he's just not so impressed with Andrew's picture taking skills??

Meanwhile, Mamma and Tink are napping...

David versus the crow. Look at that fighter face. He'd make Yoda proud.

With his foe defeated, Davey looks for more mountains to climb...

(grand)parental warning: viewing the following picture may give you heart palpitations

Ah! finally, his feet are on solid ground again. Where to next Daveyboy?? Come home and let your mamma inhale the fresh scent of outside (or the stench of seaweed, I'm not picky these days).

And again, what a perfect day to be at the beach. Wow.

So, now that the boys are home (andrew's outside fixing the flat tire he got on the way home), Mamma decides to rock out to some Third Day. Davey decides to be rocker boy and jam along. We really need to get him a Davey sized guitar.

Oh, and it's Tink's five week birthday today. She's getting better at "sitting up" when propped. She doesn't slide over onto her head anymore when I put her in the bath...which means I can use both hands for washing, and not one for holding/one for washing.

And when we put her on her tummy, she doesn't just lie there with her head flat on the ground...she's getting very good at lifting it up a little.

And you can probably tell from this picture that she's still an eating champ. But ever so cute with those chubby little cheeks.

Davey has been refusing to nap the last few days. We're going to have to move bedtime up a bit, but we haven't done that yet. Which means he's very, very tired by his old bedtime. Tonight he just cried, and cried, and cried. And then he started sobbing Tinky's name. So I asked him if he wanted to give her a hug. He climbed up on my lap, clutched her to him, and sobbed a few more times. Then he dried off his face and proceeded to sing a song to her about "tinky's arm". And stroke her head. And give her kisses. It was heartwarming.
