I was in Langley today to run some errand type things and I got to see Ashlie :)
Tink adores 'my ashlie'. She even sat on her for a moment.Jade. There are no words.
But I'd say she gets it from her Uncle Dave.
Mum's kitchen is almost finished. Two doors missing and we have to unpack all of her stuff that is hidden away. Oh and connect the hood fan, do the tile and the baseboards. But hey, at least we can get back in there again!!

Tink and I are sick and tired of her hair being in her eyes all the time. I didn't want to resort to this, but her hair is so fine that clips just don't stay in and she hates the pony tails. So. We cut bangs.
Of course, maybe I should have waited till hat season was over. Hats hold her hair out of her eyes pretty well.Andrew had to come home today because of a family emergency. After dealing with parts 1 & 2 of the emergency, we went for a nice, brisk walk. It was that or ice cream.
This is Tink saying, "cheeeeese....pizza"
And both of them screaming in the stroller. Good walk.

Tonight we went for a rainy walk in downtown Chilliwack. There are a lot of cute boutique shops down there and it was perfect for some window shopping. This is adorable. In an antique-y shop I've never been in.
Elisabeth posing in the fall leaves (is it just me or are there a LOT of leaves lying around this fall? Why isn't anyone cleaning them up?)
Davey was absolutely obsessed with throwing leaves in the air.
These are from Miss Muffet's toy shop. SO cute!
As is this Humpty Dumpty.
Oh, and for some reason I LOVE these canisters. Aren't they pretty?
Davey and tink at Graham's Gifts.
Dave, this one's for you.
This is an advent calendar. It's a little house with a Christmas tree on top and there are little doors all over it with numbers on it. AND it revolves. SO cute!

My neighbor emailed me some pictures from Halloween. Here's Wonder Woman (aka Rain) and Spider Man as they trick or treated in the rain. Aren't they adorable?!

time for some Christmas decor
Almost everyone I know is decorating for Christmas. And since we're moving in thirty two days, it really doesn't seem prudent to drag my decorations back here from there only to have to move them back again in a month. I have two of my favorite decorations here still...a teeny little tree and my nativity set.
Even so, I'm hugely jealous of everyone else who gets to start making their homes look Christmassy. So, I thought I'd do the next best thing and spruce this place up a little. After all, you know I can't resist changing my templates with the seasons ;)

I forgot to mention that last night we saw Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
Ever since we watched the Veggie Tales: Pirates Who Don't Do Anything movie last spring, we've been hoping to watch another movie in theatre. So when I caught the previews for Madagascar we knew we had to go.
Yesterday we had Christmas pictures done in Surrey and since we were already out that way, decided to watch M2 in the Imax theatre at Colossus. We grabbed some BK and the kids finished up in their seats in the Imax theatre. Man, it's a different experience in there. There's no music until just before the show starts. Then they play symphony type music. Davey immediately put his hands over his ears and started complaining it was too loud. "Just wait till the movie starts" his dad said. The second song sounded like it could have been from the Nutcracker ballet. As the first few notes sounded, Elisabeth sat up very straight and said, with a voice full of wonder, "It's my princess music!"
She loved the music and danced and bobbed her head until the laser light show started. Then she was terrified and sat stone still with her hands over her ears and her eyes tightly shut. I knew that once they saw familiar characters on the screen both kids would probably be very happy to watch the movie. And I was right. Davey was quiet for most of the movie, but Elisabeth laughed and clapped and sang, and danced and pointed...and tried to engage the teenaged boy next to us in conversation. I think it's safe to say they both liked it. But it was a late night for all of us and as we filed out of the theatre Elisabeth took my face in both hands and said, "Let's get out of here. I go bed."

Furniture & Appliance Shopping with Two Preschoolers...
Today Andrew and I decided to try pricing out appliances for the new house. It's a bit overwhelming online because you can't open fridges or peer inside dishwashers. And the sheer volume of items online...it's impossible to weed through!
So this morning we headed to The Brick to try and narrow down the field. We made the mistake of wandering through the furniture section first. Actually, our first mistake was telling Davey that now that he's too long for his toddler bed, we'd be looking for a new big boy bed for him. And that he could choose. So of course, after claiming numerous couches and living room sets were 'perfect', they saw the kids section and went racing off.
No surprises that Elisabeth picked this set as hers. Apparently she went from one item to the next, "This is my table. And this light, is mine. And this is mine bed..."
The biggish surprise was this:Davey's been very adamant that he wants another race car bed. And right next to this (sweet) bed was a very cool race car bed. But oh no, he went racing to this, stopping just long enough to tear off his shoes, jumped up the ladder and threw himself on the mattress with a loud, "Now THIS is what I've been looking for!!"

Knights and Princesses
Bribed with leftover suckers my kids posed for a few quick photos this morning. I wanted pictures of a warrior princess and the knight poised for battle...my kids had other ideas...

Proof That Mommy Needs to SLOW DOWN...
Here are a couple of previews of the pictures we had done on Friday. Now if you could just picture Elisabeth in a gorgeous pink tulle and sequiny dress you'd have an idea of how her pictures were supposed to turn out.She was very posey on Friday. They asked me if I practiced with her at home. I think it's just cause she LOVED their egg chair!
This is Davey in the Knight costume Aunty Kathi & Uncle Cody bought him.
And my favorite picture so far. Cute, no?
As we were driving home last night, I figured out in my head that we have five weekends until we move. And something going on every single weekend. Without factoring in a single Christmas party, service or any of our usual trips to Christmas trains.
I need a holiday :P

Today the kids had their pictures done at Revival Arts Studio. Unfortunately, today was kind of a weird day (I'm sick. The kids woke up very early over excited about Halloween, no thanks to preschool, yadda yadda) and so we forgot Tink's costume hanging on the garage door. They still took pictures of her but the pictures won't be gracing our Christmas cards like I'd hoped they would.
Here's Davey in his Knight costume.
And later in his Spidey face:The kids set out to gather candy.
And this was the best pose I could get from a not very interested in taking pictures boy.
And my ladybug.

SO excited!
My amazing and wonderful sister and her fabulous husband decided that it was practically child abuse that poor Davey has to wear princess costumes every time the kids play dressup. So they bought him this Knight costume. Now, it just so happens that earlier this year my mum bought him a book all about knights and their code of honour. I knew that this costume was coming so yesterday Davey and I spent quite a bit of time looking at his book. Then I showed him a picture of his costume. And he was SO excited.
Today he got it. And told Auntie that he had decided he wanted to be a robot instead.
You just can't win.
But that's not the story here.
My favorite photographers in the universe are taking pictures of my kids in costume tomorrow. Davey is wearing his knight costume and Ellie is going as a princess. Brilliant costuming idea courtesy of the above-mentioned wonderful sister!
Also, and only slightly less exciting, I finally found cold medicine that does the trick for me. Advil Cold and Flu, I heart you.

Davey always wants to help Andrew put gas in the car. Sometimes he washes it too. Saturday he washed ALL the windows for us.Ellie at Grandma's.
Today I was packing. Davey and Tink wanted to play in the boxes. Davey asked me if I was going to tape up his box and put him in the moving truck.
Davey and I are both sick. We had a burst of energy this morning and got a ton off boxes packed. But by one my energy had worn off and I just felt really crummy. So me and Davey snuggled while Elisabeth danced and played around us.
Here she is telling me how scary the Incredible Hulk is. That reminds me...there's this place downtown Langley that has a skull on it's sign. She cries every time we drive past it. "Scary, it's scary". Poor kid.
here she is, being 'sick' like us.
