Almost three whole days old...

You can't tell from this picture, but Davey is holding his sister here. First thing he does in the morning is ask to "hold baby?" and throughout the day if he's not asking to hold her, he's climbing up beside me to look at her in awe or stroking her little head. It's the sweetest thing. I don't know why but I never expected him to be so tender and full of love for her. Amazing to behold.

The first night in the hospital went well. Elisabeth knew how to nurse from the get go. And she slept well in her little bassinet thing. So the only problem was that my bed (and Andrew's) were really really uncomfie. So of course we left as soon as we could. The first night at home was awful. She nursed CONSTANTLY from 9 pm till 7 am. Then I made Andrew drive to the store and get some formula. An ounce later and she crashed out for two and a halff hours. Me too.

Last night was better. When she started cluster nursing every five minutes we gave her almost an ounce of formula and she slept for just over two hours then we slept on the couch together. Her nursing every hour to ninety minutes and both of us sleeping in between. MUCH better!

Here she is admiring her big brother. And below him posing for the camera. The facial expression is the result of the proud "CHEEEEESE" he's saying. He came home from Kathi's talking in sentances. It's hard to watch him grow up overnight, but they really are sweet together. And he's handling reduced snuggle time so well.

Hi Andie,
Jordan did that too - nursed every hour all through the night for the first few weeks - I thought I was going to die! Then a few weeks in, she started getting better. Now at two months, things are so much improved that I hardly remember what it was like those first few weeks.
