Mumma's point of view

We made it!

So many things I wanted to blog about, no idea how to express it.

We had our doctor's appointment last Thursday and booked in for an induction then. Yesterday we showed up at LMH at 7 am, but weren't sure if we could stay since they didn't have enough nurses and there was only one doctor for the whole ward. Just as I'd made up my mind that we'd get to go home, the doctor breezed in, broke my water and shipped me off to a delivery room. Talk about going from zero to sixty in no time flat!

I was induced with Oxytocin again, which is the same as with Davey. With him I went for just over six and a half hours from inducement to baby. With Tink it was three hours eleven minutes. I don't think I ever want to have a baby naturally - I don't know if I could psyc myself up for a long labour.

Davey showed up to see his new sister yesterday afternoon. At first he seemed really intimidated by her, but by the time he left the hospital he seemed very fond of her. Today when we got home, he was definitely smitten. He spends a lot of time gazing at her and tentatively stroking her head. It's really, really cute.

We've been asked if tinkie has any hair. Here's a shot so you can see for yourself. By our standards, she was born with a full head of hair. Of course, by most people's standards, that's just a little fuzz. I wonder if it will stay dark, or if this is all going to fall out and come back blonde...or red??

We decided to name Tink Elisabeth Margaret Lena Menary. The Elisabeth is my name, and my maternal grandmother's name. Margaret is also grandma's middle name and Andrew's mom's middle name. And since Tink was born on my paternal great grandma's birthday, we decided to name her Lena (GGrandma's name was Magdalena. Interestingly, though I had NO idea when my great grandma's birthday was, I knew I wanted this baby named after her from the get go. I think you have to be European to like the name though. Oh well, Lena - pronounced lay-na is pretty and I quite think that Elisabeth suits our little princess).

Here's Ellie moments after birth. And this is it from me for now. Thank you everyone for your good wishes! I'm sure there will be lots more pictures to come.

Yeah, congratulations!!! I was away this week and I was just wondering if perhaps you had had an arrival while I was gone. And here she is. She's beautiful! Just like her Mom.

My grandma (EliZabeth) and her sister (Lena) both had daughters named Margaret. My aunt Margaret named her daughter Elizabeth - "Ellie".
Are you sure you're not a Klassen?

Great names.
Beautiful girl-child.
Congrats.
When can I come and hold her?
