Buttoning

David has had some really cool projects at school this year. His teachers are amazing. So one of his projects was the PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs. David had to come up with his own business.

Ever since we met Annie at craft markets, David has wanted a button business. We talked about it and he wants to do craft markets with his buttons. So he invested in a button maker and David's Buttons and Magnets was born!

We really hoped that David would be able to take his button business to the district entrepreneur fest. But we were so thrilled and excited for him to be invited to SFU School of Business Opportunity Fest too!

David was one of 8 students from grades 4-8 who were chosen from Langley and Surrey to promote their businesses during the Opportunity Fest. There were also a host of high school and university students there as well. With really, really cool businesses.

Once we'd set up, David was interviewed by judges. They spent 7 minutes with each student then would switch. If it had been me getting interviewed, I would have been curled up under the table in the fetal position.

Here's the founder of the Young Entrepreneur program, checking out David's booth.

David was amazing. He read over his notes many times, and then when the judges came, he was cool and collected.

Elisabeth took a lot of pictures for me.

literally, these are all her pictures. Anyway, you can see that David was amazing. He didn't win the people's choice award, but that's hard when you're the oldest kid competing against a bunch of precocious 8 year olds. We are so proud of him!

And here's a picture Elisabeth took of Andrew to finish off this posting!
