Day trip to Vancouver and Symphony of Fire

A few years ago, we spent the day in Vancouver hopping on and off the aquabus. It was a fantastic day and we've talked about repeating it ever since but have never had the opportunity. When we planned to attend the Symphony of Fire (or whatever they're calling it these days), I knew we should make a day of it.

We parked near the Museum of Vancouver, our preferred viewing spot, and then walked towards Granville Island.

I can't believe how much David grew this year. There's not that much difference in height here, but David towers above Elisabeth now.

Anyhoo, we wandered over towards the food.

And then we headed for the boats.

We totally lucked out and scored this wide, flat open boat, totally unlike most of the aqua buses. It provided an amazing view.

And our pilot was great too. Since we had a hop on, hop off pass, we just went wherever he was going. Which makes for a great little cruise.

And then this pirate ship started following us around.

 Seriously, this is the life.

And eventually we decided maybe we should hop off. We got off the boat and wandered along the sea wall gain.

We have a super long sea wall in Vancouver. You can wander for miles and miles. One day  I would like to do all of it. But maybe on a bike.

We climbed a tower and got up to this bridge.

And then we went back down again.

This is how the police cruise around here.

Eventually we got close to Olympic Village where we were picking up snacks for the evening.

And then we hopped back on a boat to get back to Granville Island.

(some of these pictures are out of order due to being from my phone but) eventually we made it back and hopped on another boat, this time to get out to the MOV.

We unloaded our stuff from the car and scored a good spot to watch the show. And then we hung out.

 And watched the sun set.

JK JK, that was the view through my sunglasses. But here's where we set up!

 And watched the air show.

And eventually we really did watch the sun set.

Years ago, I was on the PR team for Celebration of Light (that's what they're calling it, isn't it?! Yes! I remembered). I got to sit in the press box with appies and sound and comfy chairs.

 This is so much better!
